The Hacker House

My newest drawing of local homes. I have included the trees and chicken coop to make the drawing more interesting to viewers other than the former owners.

I am attending drawing sessions of live models to improve my figure drawing and plan to add figures to my next drawings.

Napa Valley and wine flavors

This drawing was submitted to a Dallas restaurant as a wine label contest entrant. It can be viewed from either direction as the bottle of wine is resting on a rack. Turn it upside down and check. It is a drawing of the Napa Valley, Howell Mountain and Atalon Winery, and the three flavor elements, black cherry, blueberry and peppercorn.

Beach Visit - more sketches

Trip to the Beach

Donna drove the RV with three dogs, four parrots and me to Delaware. We stayed in an RV park and Donna's mother, two sisters, father (for 12 hours), brother-in-law, niece and nephew stayed in a rent house on Prime Hook Beach. We walked and swam in the bay and made day trips to Tower Beach and the near by State Park. I sketched several views of the beach and view from the back porch of the house. Fun was had by all, most of the time. The seafood was great. The family visit was worth the 3600 miles we put on the RV. We also stayed a week in Bristol, TN, for the NASCAR races and fly fishing.

Rudy's Stone House

This is the main house, barn and shed for a working cattle ranch. I had the privilege of watching a round up with two riders and a half dozen cowboys. They used all the old fashioned methods which they claimed were faster and safer than the new shoots and gates. This house, located on a hill, overlooks the ranch of rolling hills, woods and streams.

Keith's Shop

I created a drawing of Keith's shop. I drew two pictures of the interior, The Cold Corner and the Hot Corner, several months ago. The shop is central to the town of Era. Keith fixes farm equipment and cars. He also builds race cars for the local drivers and Gainesville Car Club. His shop is full of older cars awaiting rebuilding. Meeting here at the end of the day for refreshments is a way to keep up with the happenings of the town and its people. It is a very enjoyable experience.

Local Buildings by Commissions

I have been commissioned to draw two local homes. One is going to be torn down and the former owner wants to have a record of the home in which he grew up. He plans to make prints and give each family member a copy at Christmas. The second home is a flash back. I was asked to draw the home as it was during the childhood of some family members. I removed some large trees and moved some items around. I also removed the siding and replaced the old shingles. The third drawing is of a local business. The owner's family makes handmade frames and I hope we can offer them on the art website very soon. www.artbydavidanddonna.com.
