Ceramics. I am making pottery.

I am using my new electric kiln and wheel.  After some time spent practicing technique and testing clay and glazes I have created some tea bowls.  Here are some pots made on the wheel and glazed as Majolica or some cone 6 glazes given to me by my first pottery class instructor.

I have started making pots in my new studio.  I have an electric kiln and wheel.  Most of my time is spent practicing the techniques needed to produce fine art.  Above are two views of a three glaze pot fired to cone 10.

Tomatoes

Here is my latest oil painting.  While making the subject matter simple, I can concentrate on the detail of shading and shadow.  My next will be a more simple veggies on a table with cloth.

Laughing Pigs

This oil painting is a gift for a local restaurant, Penelope's.  I went there for lunch one day and spoke with the owner.  During our conversation, she mentioned she liked pigs and collected images of them.  I hope she hangs this painting in a spot where all her customers will see it.

Here is a picture of my son Jon that I am sending to him for his 40th birthday.  This is the first picture I have framed.  Now I have to produce a picture of my son Andy.  This started with my promise to paint a picture of my granddaughter for her Bat Mitzvah.  After many tries, I am finally getting to the point where people who know the sitter can recognize them.  Someday I may get good at this.  Practice, practice, practice.

I have started painting in oils.  These are some of my first paintings, other than the ones I burned because they were that bad.  Hopefully we will see some improvement as time goes on.
